I'm getting ready to do a series based on water/landscapes and this is an early step.  I'm excited for this evolution in my landscapes series.

Here's a happy flower painting to get myself back into the daily paintings this week.  Note: I'm going to be very spotty for the next few weeks, as the kids are getting out of school and I have a bit of time to fill before they start in the day camps.

It's Friday and I'm just now getting around to restarting my daily paintings.  Isn't this an ominous-looking grackle?

Morning Sun

"Morning Sun," Acrylic on Board, 24x36"
I finished this yesterday, but forgot to post.  You can't see it as well in the picture, but the painting has a wonderful yellow glow which is accented by the strong shadows on the tree.  I'm glad I recovered enough from West to start painting again - just in time for part 2...

Homeless

I frequently see people like this sitting under the bridges along the major roadways in Austin - a reminder of how fortunate I am to have a home.  It seems oddly appropriate that he does't have a face.

Tattered Grackle

Usually, the local grackles have long, spoon-shaped tails.  This fellow lost part of his and it appears to have made him even more fierce.

Though grackles look aggressive and I see them everywhere, the only local bird that caused me trouble was with some sort of dove.  It that cuffed me on the head with its wing when I walked under his tree.  Go figure.

Conversation Triptych

"Conversation Triptych," Acrylic on Board, 40x90"
If you're wondering why I haven't posted dailies for a while, here's why.  This is the largest piece I've ever tackled and it was quite the undertaking.  Working in three panels was a bit of a pain, since each of the easels I used was different (height, sturdiness, etc.).  I'm happy with the results though & am excited to debut it at West this weekend.
