This one was a struggle.  The problem with worrying too much about likeness in a painting is that my brushwork gets too tight.  I need to try to loosen up a bit in the next one.

Cinderella

Here's a last figurative painting to end the month.  As much as I dislike March, it ended up being a productive month this year.

Contortion

I'm finally getting back to some figure painting.  I like how this one turned out, though I may still mess around with it a bit.  I'm shooting a brand new model on Friday, which is exciting.

Tempest

Another day, another window.  The little windows frames are much faster to paint and have the added benefit of accommodating pre-made 8x8" panels.

Path

Another window - not sure if the path is too prominent.  It used to be red, but I knocked it back a bit.

Natural Sadness

I did this quick self-portrait today to see if I was still able to paint freehand and from life (a mirror).  The exercise was mixed (not too thrilled w/the final painting) but it was interesting to see the pros & cons of not working from photos.  I feel like the rendering itself has extra depth (see eyes in particular), but was unable to get anything interesting in the expression.  I think my 'concentrating' face makes me look like I'm sad.
